Liberty money: stay anonymous or else go to prison

Satoshi Nakamoto correctly sensed that he had to carefully shield his identity while building his bitcoin system.

Bernard von Nothaus is the creator of the silver Liberty Dollar, another alternative currency to the US dollar. The Liberty Dollar offices were raided by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Secret Service on November 14, 2007.

On March 18, 2011, von Nothaus was pronounced guilty of “making, possessing, and selling his own currency”.

Satoshi Nakamoto correctly understood that there should not be one centralized database of bitcoin transactions. Such central database would inevitably be raided by the FBI and US Secret Service. The only reason why the bitcoin blockchain still exists today, is because its decentralizing and replicating technology prevents the FBI and the US Secret service from raiding it.

The use of force may defeat the free market, but technology always defeats politics. Swarmification creates a whack-a-mole situation that defeats the political use of force. If you are building internet systems that may disturb the powers that be, you must remain anonymous. Otherwise, the powers that be will target you individually and very personally.

Bittorrent, bitcoin and tor are social and political winners. The powers that be, are made to kneel before the laws of nature, as harnessed by technology. Every time an internet platform forces the powers that be on their knees, it is a great victory for mankind. Unlike Bernard von Nothaus, Satoshi Nakamoto will not go to prison. He is a hero.

I mostly work on an alternative bitcoin marketplace -and exchange applications. I am sometimes available for new commercial projects but rather unlikely right now.
